Iftikhar Ahmed
This book is a compilation of the sayings attributed to Hasan al Basri (Rahimahullah) who was born in Al-Madeenah in the year 642 during the caliphate of `Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab.
Al-Hasan moved to Basra, Iraq, in in 656 and began learning jurisprudence. Delivering sermons and recounting religious tales appealed to Al-Hasan and he took a place in the mosque of Al-Basrah. Al-Hasan had a large class in the mosque, where he taught the Hadeeth, jurisprudence, the Glorious Quran, the Arabic language, and rhetoric. In special discourses held in his house, he taught asceticism.
Abu Burdah said of Al-Hasan: "I have never seen a man who did not accompany the companions of the Prophet yet resembled them, like this scholar".
